| Dr Gillian Sparkes has had a distinguished career working with industry, community, and government to care for and protect the environment. She served as Victoria’s Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability for a decade, before stepping down in June 2024.
Gillian is the inaugural Chair of the Western Port Integrated Water Management Forum in Victoria. Formed in 2017 the Forum supports DEECA and its partners including local governments, deliver better outcomes for Western Port communities and the environment through a collaborative, catchment scale approach to water planning and management. An experienced non-executive director and strategic advisor across various sectors, Gillian is also the Board Chair of Frontier SI (ex-CRC for Spatial Information), Deputy Chair Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation, a Member of the Monash University Council and NT EPA and a board member of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation. Gillian was recognized as one of Victoria’s Top 50 Public Sector Women in 2020 and appointed as a Member (AM) of the Order of Australia in 2021.
